On the Strategies for Translating Chinese Culture-loaded Words into English in Accordance with “Going Abroad Strategy” of China——Taking the Translation of “junzi” and “xiaoren” in The Analects of Confucius as an Example

摘要: 文章分析《论语》里“君子”“小人”的含义,探讨其英译策略的选择,提出采用音译加注解的方法,不仅利于规范和统一,也易于被目的语读者接受,能最大限度传达源语的文化信息。

Abstract: The paper analyzes the various versions of the C-E translation of “Junzi”and “Xiaoren” in The Analects of Confucius, and then puts forward the point that in today's Chinese culture transmission, translators would better adopt Foreignization strategy in C-E translation practice, especially the method of transliteration plus annotation. The translation strategy will make contribution to the unification and standardization of the English equivalents for these Chinese culture-loaded words. The method of transliteration plus annotation can make the translated text acceptable to the target readers and spread Chinese culture effectively.
