Abstract:

With the positive influence of the Belt and Road Initiative, there is an increasing need for the translation and international publicity of Dunhuang culture. In recent years, some translators have translated books on Dunhuang culture, whereas few scholars have conduct researches on its translation. As a result, without the support of translation theories and the guidance of the translation criteria, the translation of the Dunhuang culture is faced with various problems, in which the most urgent one to be tackled is the term translation. Since the Dunhuang culture is so extensive and profound that its terms feature great uniqueness and complexity, which serves as the difficult points in Dunhuang term translation. In light of this, the article focuses on the translation of Dunhuang culture terms, summarizes their features, and points out and analyzes the existing problems. The article also explores proper counter-measures. We hoped this article could lay certain foundation to the spread of the Dunhuang culture, promote the international research on the Dunhuang Studies and enhance the translation of terms on Chinese culture.
